Catherine Franz B.Sc., MPH, RTC
If you have never been to therapy, initiating this process can feel uncomfortable and possibly scary. Sometimes people have waited a long time before reaching out for support and to make a change in their life.
We will bring mindful attention and gentle exploration to your concerns and work to uncover your internal resources. With compassionate curiosity we will examine limiting beliefs and suspicions of self that drive unwanted patterns and bring compassion to those tender places to return to the truth about self and others. As we look within, we gain insights. These insights allow us to find strength, balance and empower us to shift to where we are meant to be. Therapy is about hope, and having a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I use a client-centered approach where we focus on your goals for counselling and draw on several therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, CBT, transpersonal psychology, Bowen Family Systems, Gestalt, narrative, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, somatic-mind-body, and IFS.
When I'm not working, I’m likely to be practicing my own self-care; hiking, kayaking, playing squash, working on creative projects, connecting with friends, gardening, and plotting future travel adventures.
